The Woodstock Recording Workshop and Area 52 Studios, located in the beautiful Catskill Mountains in New York State, offers classes in the art of audio engineering practices. Whether you’re a professional seeking to broaden your skills, a musician with a home studio who would like to utilize your equipment to it’s fullest, or if you are thinking about entering the recording field as a career - not a bad idea considering the economic times we're living in and the career changes that are happening all around us… we have a program to fit your needs.
The past decade and a half has brought on vast change in the recording industry. Previously, a recording studio had been a place of high-tech mystery and intrigue, untouchable for the average musician. Owned by record companies and large conglomerates, these facilities were reserved only for the fortunate few who had secured a record contract. Today, thanks to the availability of relatively low-cost, high- quality digital recording gear such as Pro Tools, Digital Performer, Logic, Nuendo and the wide range of Studios-in-a-Box, a large number of studios containing a variety of such equipment are showing up just about everywhere. Now there is a massive proliferation of private home studios, project studios owned by professional producers, and small commercial studios. Although the equipment for these studios is easily acquired, the skills needed to properly set up and utilize this technology requires either years of experience on the job or learning from professionals who already have those years behind them. That’s where The Woodstock Recording Workshop comes into play. We’re here to help you gain the knowledge needed to make professional sounding recordings. Whether you’re making song demos, home video soundtracks or fully produced CDs, you’ll benefit greatly from our programs.
