Some of you already know about the new room that we just had built at Area 52 Studios. We've been at that location for about 2 1/2 years and have had it running as a small edit and mix room. Now, I'm happy to say, there is a new tracking/overdub room that will be available for bookings starting mid-February. We're just in the final stages of cosmetics and sound treaments. I'll be posting photos soon, so stay tuned. Please give me a call or drop an email with any questions.
In the midst of getting the place in order, I've done a couple of great projects there recently. In the fall, I finished up editing and mixing a record I recorded with the amazing string quartet Ethel. I'll post links to the disc itself once it's available to the public.
I'm also now in the final days of a Graham Parker and the Rumour record that I recored in the summer at Dreamland Studios, and mixed at Area 52. It's pure and simple GP and and been an absolute blast to work on. It's also the first record he's done with The Rumor in 31 years!
Other studio projects include mixes for the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Timothy Hill, and local singer-songwriter Paul McMahon,
Live touring work still keeps me busy with Laurie Anderson (we're heading to Taiwan next month), Medeski, Martin and Wood, Maya Beiser and more. But one project I'm very proud of was recording my sons (Ian Cook) band, The G-String Orchestra. We did it start to finish at Area 52. This is also in the final stages and I should have links available here for download soon.
That's it for now. Check back soon for more!
